Looks like Fairmont Hotels is finally on its next move toward opening its Abu Dhabi hotel. Let’s hope their redesigns are worth the delays, considering the competition. Will they or won’t they? Seven years after Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announced they’re going to set up a hotel in Abu Dhabi, they’re finally “just about complete,” as the company’s President Christ Cahill was quoted in The National.

Sofitel plans new luxury hotels in UAE
French luxury hotel chain Sofitel is planning to open three properties in the UAE by the end of next year and is in talks to manage a property on Saadiyat Island, The National has reported.

ATM 2011: Jumeirah reports surge in luxury stays
Jumeirah Group has reported a 58% increase in net profits for 2010 demonstrating what the hotel company says is a “surge back from a challenging two-year period” in the luxury hospitality market. Flagship luxury property Burj Al Arab was said to have recorded a year-on-year increase in occupancy of 5%.

Banyan Tree pulls out of Abu Dhabi resort project
Singapore-listed hotel operator Banyan Tree said on Wednesday it will no longer be managing a planned resort at the Eastern Mangroves development in Abu Dhabi. Luca Deplano, the company’s vice president of marketing, said the group has pulled out of plans to operate the Angsana-branded resort following disagreements between the owner and operator over how to develop the project.
